Paul S. Lefkowitz (Ret'd)
Mr. Lefkowitz is a 1971 graduate of the Adelbert College of Case Western Reserve University and a 1974 graduate of the Case Western Reserve University School of Law. Since joining CLPWG in 1974, Mr. Lefkowitz has also specialized in public and private sector Labor Relations and Litigation and has tried numerous cases under 42 U.S.C. § 1983 and Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964. He also maintained an active trial practice with special emphasis on Civil Rights actions in United States District Court and litigation, both civil and criminal, under the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act ("RICO").
Mr. Lefkowitz has extensive experience in the representation of Labor Unions and employee organizations in the private and public sectors: organizing, representation elections, picketing, strikes, collective bargaining negotiations, unfair labor practice proceedings, grievance adjustment, disciplinary hearings/appeals, arbitration (including binding impasse arbitration) and litigation involving pension rights, military commitments, police and fire department promotions, residency requirements, layoffs, the breach of the duty of fair representation, the Labor-Management Reporting and Disclosure Act ("LMRDA") and the Employee Retirement Income Security Act ("ERISA"). He was the General Counsel to Ohio Patrolmen's Benevolent Association, and special counsel to various employee organizations representing municipal and county employees, school teachers and university professors; Special Counsel, Ohio Attorney General; a member of the Editorial Advisory Board, The Ohio Public Employee Reporter, Labor Relations Press, 1983-86; a member of the Workers' Compensation Panel and Certified Contract Advisor of the National Football League Players' Association and a member of the Advisory Committee, Industrial Relations Center, Cleveland State University, 1988-90. Mr. Lefkowitz has made numerous presentations concerning labor issues.
