Bextra Users vs. Pharmacia and Pfizer

Following a request from the FDA, Pfizer Inc., on April 7, 2005 announced a voluntary withdrawal of Bextra from the U.S. and worldwide market due to safety concerns of an increased risk of Heart attacks, Strokes, Blood clots and a possibly life-threatening skin reactions known as Stevens Johnson Syndrome in patients taking Bextra.

Bextra is a prescription anti-inflammatory drug that was approved by the FDA for the relief of the signs and symptoms of osteoarthritis, the management of acute pain in adults, and for the treatment relief of the pain caused by rheumatoid arthritis in adults and children. Individuals who are currently taking Bextra have been urged to contact their physician for guidance regarding discontinuation and alternative therapies.

This follows six months after Merck & Co. recalled their similar anti-inflammatory drug, Vioxx, after it informed the FDA that a recent study showed an increased risk of Heart attacks and Strokes in patients on Vioxx. Bextra, Vioxx, and a third drug, Celebrex are all in the class of medications known as Cox-2 inhibitors.

If you or a loved one have suffered heart attack, stroke, skin irritation or other serious side effect from Bextra, or if a loved one has died while taking Bextra, you may be entitled to monetary compensation.
